Uttarakhand Health Minister: Don’t spend Rs 25 crores of taxpayers’ money on a hunt for the Sanjeevani Booti!
Imagine you were the Health Minister of an Indian state. Your citizens handed over Rs. 25,00,00,000 of their hard earned money to you in the form of taxes. What would you do with it, keeping in mind that you have been entrusted with their well being?
Would you sanction a Rs. 25 crore research project to locate a magical herb whose only reference is to be found in a legendary epic? That’s exactly what Uttarakhand’s Health Minister, Surendra Singh Negi has done. Join us is telling the Health Minister not to spend such an enormous amount of tax payers money just to prove the existence of the Sanjeevani Booti of Ramayana fame!!
Uttarakhand is a state reeling from a dangerous reality today. Every year it faces massive devastation from unpredictable weather events and man made disasters. Thus leaving its citizens in dire need of basic necessities. If thousands of us tell the Health Minister of Uttarakhand that taxpayers’ money should not be spent on searching for a mythical herb, he will be forced to reconsider this decision. The Central government had already refused to sanction this money from central funds but the State Government is now using its own funds to take this forward!
For centuries, researchers have tried and failed in this quest. Please act now and ask the Health Minister to utilize Uttarakhand’s tax money wisely. Even the heroes in India’s epics would want him to do the same!
