Hesaraghatta saved! It is now a protected grassland!

A BIG WIN FOR CITIZENS OF BENGALURU!

After years of relentless efforts, Karnataka State Board of Wildlife (KSBW) has approved the proposal to declare Hesaraghatta as a protected grassland! The area around Hesaraghatta has been notified as the ‘Greater Hesaraghatta Conservation Reserve’ (GHCR).

They have also deferred mining-related proposals within a 10km radius of the Kappatagudda Wildlife Sanctuary!

Several individuals and organizations joined hands over the last few years and thanks to their collective efforts, Hessaraghatta is now safeguarded from development and will continue to thrive as a haven for its rare species of flora and fauna!

This victory is a testament to the unwavering commitment and support of citizens who were determined to protect Bengaluru’s last remaining grassland.
