Mumbai Metropolitan Region’s wetlands are most important natural resources. These wetlands are the primary sources of freshwater, buffers of floods and droughts, recycler of nutrients and chemicals, and inextricably intertwined with our culture and identity.
But lately these wetlands are being destructed for commercial and residential projects as well as development projects by government agencies. Jhatkaa.org is launching a campaign to save these wetlands. To mobilize citizens around this issue we are also documenting the destruction using effective digital methods. You can view some of our work in interactive format here.
