90% of the women say that they aren’t comfortable using public toilets in Mumbai because of the lack of facilities and unhygienic conditions. Additionally, there aren’t even enough toilets for them. Mumbai has just 400 women only toilets for a city overflowing with people.
A big population of poor people, for whom these toilets are the only ones they have access to, are risking their lives to pee everyday. In fact a man was gravely injured when a public toilet roof in Poisar collapsed.
Something as basic as peeing shouldn’t come at such a grave cost and that’s why we are filing RTIs, engaging with the BMC on ground, gathering data and running this campaign long term. Could you pledge a small amount of Rs. 199 every month so we can ensure more and better public toilets in Mumbai?
Your small contribution today could lead to big changes in the infrastructure of Mumbai and will enable us to keep at our work.
