High Court takes action against forest clearance!

A proposal to build a concrete city in Auroville without a detailed action plan was underway. If cleared, this development plan would have resulted in entire forests being cleared, without any citizen consultation and in complete disregard for the law. 

Jhatkaa.org swiftly set up a petition against this proposed plan. With objections from 6,465 individuals, the Madras High Court intervened in time and granted an interim status quo against any demolition!
